Carlson Bier Associates Disclosure

Our Commitment to Transparency

We provide this disclosure to help you understand how our legal services are structured, including the possible involvement of “of counsel” attorneys and any referral relationships. Our goal is to ensure clarity, transparency, and informed decision-making in accordance with the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct (See Rule 1.5).

Use of “Of Counsel” Attorneys

From time to time, Carlson Bier Associates works with attorneys who serve in an “of counsel” role. These attorneys are not partners or employees of the firm but maintain a close and ongoing professional relationship with our office.

If your matter would benefit from the involvement of an “of counsel” attorney, you will be informed in advance. We will clearly explain their role in your case, as well as their qualifications and how they will contribute to your representation.

All work performed by “of counsel” attorneys is coordinated and supervised by Carlson Bier Associates. You will remain a client of our firm throughout your case, and their involvement will not result in any additional cost to you.

Referrals to Other Attorneys or Law Firms

In certain situations, we may determine that your legal matter would be better handled, either in part or in full, by another attorney or law firm. This may be based on factors such as specific expertise, geographic considerations, or the needs of your case.

If a referral is recommended, we will clearly communicate the details to you, including:

  • The identity of the attorney or firm receiving the referral;
  • Whether a referral fee or fee-sharing arrangement is involved;
  • How any fees may be divided between the attorneys, if applicable; and
  • Your right to choose a different attorney if you prefer.

Any fee-sharing arrangement will only be made with your informed written consent, in accordance with the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct. The total fee you pay will not increase as a result of any such arrangement.

Your Rights

You are entitled to the following:

  • To know who is managing your matter and what their role is;
    To accept or refuse any referral or involvement of third-party legal professionals;
  • To receive clear, written details of any fees, charges, or associated costs;
  • To end the engagement at any point, subject to any applicable legal or contractual obligations.

If you have any questions about this notice or your representation, you are welcome to ask at any time.
